Pick-of-the-day from the Ashmolean museum

As you might have known from our previous posting, we visited the Ashmolean museum in central Oxford with our friends Zonny and Alice. The museum has an excellent collection of paintings spanning from the Italian masters to the more recent impressionists. Below is my favourite painting from the visit.

The above painting is 'Jerusalem' by Edward Lear (dated 1863). This painting beautifully depicts the city of Jerusalem from Mount of Olives. By the way this reminds me of one of my favourite song (I sang it in a choir in Singapore): YERUSHALAYIM SHEL ZAHAV (Jerusalem of Gold).
