New season New wardrobe

I really feels like changing my outfit now. I hate to wear jeans or long skirt all the time!! I missed my dresses... I missed feeling the chiffon and silky fabric brushing my knee and I miss the empire cut (no waist) looks, but it was just too cold to wear it.
Now....the weather finally had change, from winter gloom to spring glory. So I browse again my favorite website to find some inspiration. Monsoon... the latest, and the greatest collection.

Feeling blue? why not try this....
My favorite of all time, the simple elegancy in light turquoise! This dress called "Attie", probably an abbreviation of "aqua antique".
I love the sassy style of this dress (even though my husband said it looks like jellyfish!!!). Whatever.
Or, why not try the short dress? they are perfect for shopping, girls gathering, or for church :-)

Even though my pocket can't afford it, ebay always come to the rescue. Remember, one man's junk can be someone else treasure!

Let's talk about.....FOOD!

Let me just put photography, parenting, interior design and christianity topic aside just for a day. And let's talk about long lost forgotten passion...FOOD!!
As probably some of my blog reader knows, I had never post a cooking recipe nor taking interest on taking photograph of my dish. Let me tell you that I love to try new food, start from japanese sushi, italian, portugese, turkish, indian, french, thai, indonesian or even british fish and chips! (not just eating but also cooking them)
I do love to cook, and according to a "bias" reviewer of my dishes (that's is my husband, my parents and my little boy) I am not a bad cook.

But talking about making BEAUTIFUL food, is never come across my mind. I can only admire beautifully decorated cakes with a fancy icing and glazing, an artistically decorated french cuisine that I think only master chef can make the taste equally as good as it looks. The bottom line is, I never attempt to make the presentation of my food as good as it taste. Simple reason is, all of us eat quick... so why should I spend 3.5 hour decorating fried rice which will be eaten less than 5 minute?

But today, I saw something that changes the way I think. Probably beautiful food is not taking 3.5 hour to make, probably beautiful food is not ONLY for master chef or fancy restaurant.

Ellena, the author of and, apparently a very busy single mum (she have to work full time) and still find sometime to make this for her little boy.

No joke.

I will only thought those picture can come on my yahoo inbox as a forward from friends who want to share crazy japanese who made this bento.

Lo and behold, this time I know the "chef" personally. I have lift my hat in admiration for her creativity and patience doing this. I really do.Now, I am determine to practice before my son reach a primary school age.... so that other boys will enviously ask their own mum to make them beautiful lunch boxes.

The art of photography

I saw this cool video first time over "Maryann Koh" web blog. She is another avid photographer with inspiration and creativity. Thanks for sharing this maryann... now I am going to share it with the rest of my blog reader.

You might have notice that the video is actually consist of frames of pictures from a camera (which I heard hanged from the ceiling). Now, if any of you THINK of making the similar production. Let me know. I am just so in love with this video, but I don't think I have the strength and time to create something as creative :-)

Let's be reminded

Apologise for had not been updating recently. There is a simple reason behind this.... "Nothing exciting happening" and therefore I just don't know what to updates. My pastor and one of the man in the church are up in States now, so for a good few weeks all my weekends are quite occupied. However, a change from routine can be quite refreshing.
I chatted with my parents a lot every weekend, I guess they are missing their only beloved grandson whom they seen probably only once a year. The weather has grown milder, and we are so ready for spring. Here is some picture we took in our carpark.print5
Diverting a little bit.
Today I am reminded of this : Be Thankful for what you've got!
In the turmoil of the economic crisis (read : credit crunch) it can be very hard to be thankful. All the front pages of newspaper announcing job cuts, poverty, repossesion, etc. Some of your friends share a story that they had lost their job or experiencing financial difficulties. And don't add to the distress when you know your company too, struggling to survive and your job is at stake.

But nothing is new under the sun. The history just repeat itself.
Let's face it, human (unlike elephant) often forgets, that as much as a lot of bad things happens during our lifetime, there are quite a lot of good things as well.... which we often take it for granted.

A lot of us have a good health, have enough to eat and have a roof on the top of our head, yet we grumble about job security, pay rise, can't afford holiday, cramped house, need a new clothes, etc. While all these are a very relative measurement (depends on who you compared with, you might appear less or more fortunate than others) it's important to remember we all didn't deserve all these.
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! (Psalm 31:19)
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. (Psalm 144:2)
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (Psalm 23:6)
I shall remember all this picture capture all the blessing I need in the world. Something that I had never deserve, but God has given them to me.

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! (Psalm 107:15)

Help in the midst of the storm

Just like 99% of UK population, I knew very little thing about misery. I mean, stress at work, bad tempered toddler and a pile of housework is enough to make me think I've seen misery. I am aware, some of my blog reader have seen more serious pain in life than I do.

Today, I stumbled upon this blog...

Sarah, is a 4 year old Indonesian girl whom diagnosed with cancer, that's about the only thing I know. Nonetheless, reading the blog and updates, it makes me realise that this 4 years old has been through... A LOT, and so is her parents. I thought, even when I can only offer a bit of help, a little is better than none. I do hope my blog reader will show some support.

You can either :

1. Donate some money. (The account number is stated in her blogs).
2. Cut and paste the blog address and let your blog readers know. This especially helpful if your blog has a big readership.
3. Pray for her and her family.

With this I would like to thank everyone in advance. May the Lord return all your kindness in due time!

Snap it

I think you probably remember my post on Frame It! Few weeks ago, when attending Sonia and Andy's wedding, we saw this bloke (probably one of her friend) taking their picture using his mobile phone.
I was hoping the picture come out nice....

How ever it didn't.

The picture disappointly looks like Vodaphone advert. There is no indication at all on what is he taking. But, my sadness only last split second as GIMP come to the rescue one more time...!!

Moral of the story : don't underestimate the power of editting picture in 21st Century!

While you were sleeping

Today I read this entries made Karen Cheng (, a mum of 2 boys (soon to be three). And I thought its pretty well said.
Every night, before I go to bed, I pop into my children’s bedrooms to check on
them. I sit on their beds, in the dark, and watch them sleep.

Quiet. At their most natural. Bodies breathing. Faces like angels.

one of the most beautiful moments of being a parent.

No matter how
naughty, how rude, how indignant or disobedient they were that day – 2 minutes
of watching them sleep, brings everything into perspective. System restart.

I just want to scruff up their hair. Stroke their skin. Pinch their
cheeks. Touch their eye lashes. Give them a little nudge to wake them up and
tell them – hey, I made you! You’re like the most incredible thing in the whole
world! I like you a LOT!

But of course, I don’t wake them up. I don’t
tell them. I just sit and watch them.

My god, I love my children.

Frankly speaking, when I was young, a teen, in my twenties, married, I had never like kids. Not that I hated them or such, but I couldn't potray myself willing to commit all the time and money (not mentioning about other personal sacrifices) to have one called my own. But looking back, I did experience what Karen wrote. Since my son were only just few hours old, I enjoy staring at his peaceful face... stroking his soft hair and cheeks... It's truly like a miracle, a transformation, that changes one's mind in a matter of time.
Probably there is no way one's could ever understood how much their parents loved them. Until they become a parent themselves. And as much as saying that, could you imagine how much our Father in Heaven loved us that he sent His only Son for our ransom? I believe all parents out there certainly knows the answer.

Valentine's Day Special

** content updated **
Quick update. Another busy week, just came back from a wedding today and my husband volunteered to be the photographer. And guess what.... we were late!!! So we rush to get in and my husband run to save the rest of the scene.
Anyway, I would like to wish everyone a happy Valentine's day and here it is, today's special!

Beautiful angels....

The classic shots

The congregation
And you don't want to know what my son is doing all through the long and solemn wedding procession. While my husband busy taking picture. I was left to handle him (read : keep noise level to the minimum) alone.
Try to guess....what he did.

Are you sure you want to know???

Of course!

Cold spells

Worst storm in britan for 18 years apparently has cause chaos in the country. However, many people personally enjoy the solitude and the glamour of having the snow on their doorstep.

And so do I.

Here is the picture of and from our house last week.
Now all the fluffy snow has turned icy and slippery. Let's pack up for spring then.

One word

I was browsing around, and I saw Liss was blogging about "one word" contest held by shutter sisters. I was so tempted to join, but I had no time in hand to create new pictures and plus, outside is snowing like crazy. So, I decided to dug up old junk and scavange a picture.

I purposely didn't choose an adjective word as I presume other people might have pick one. I decide to use the word searching as that word describe the transformation point of my life. Like the song lyrics by Alfred B. Smith said :

Once so aimlessly I wondered round the tangled paths of sin.
All about me seemed so hopeless,
Doubts and fears without, within.

Then a voice so kind and gentle Spoke sweet peace unto my soul.
Gone my days of sin and wandering,
Since the Savior made me whole.

Now my life is full of gladness,
All my days are filled with joy.
I no longer walk in sadness,
Happy songs my lips employ.

For I've learned the wondrous secret
Only those in Christ can know.
'Tis the peace of sins forgiven--Joy that makes my glad heart glow.

I have never lost the wonder of it all.
I have never lost the wonder of it all!
Since the day that Jesus saved me and a whole new life He gave me,
I have never lost the wonder of it all!

I was brought up in a decent family, always going to good school, score good marks, and my parents can afford most of the things I wanted. However, I didn't feel contented with my life, and I start to search what has gone missing.

And I am glad, I had found what I'm searching for in my life.

White February

Just when I thought about spring.... warm days... flowers blooming....
UK is hit by a heavy snowfall! For the first time I seen the snow fall that heavy in UK. But I must admit it was quite a pleasant experience for a person who had rarely seen snow.
Let me remind you that the snow, was actually just like a normal snowstorm, even though in BBC news it sounded as if this is a big calamity, but it wasn't. The snow merely about 2-7 inch deep, which I think nothing to it compared the snowstorm I've seen in grand canyon or colorado spring (which can bring about 2 feet in a day).

Not many people in UK used to snow that last for days, therefore school, office, road remain closed for many part of UK. A teenager even died on sledge crash! But I guess for most people, this snow will bring a joyfull memory in 2009... especially in the middle of credit crunch. Playing in snow in your doorstep almost like FREE VACATION. And do you fancy skiing on the road to work? Why not!And here is the map of the snowstorm...(I lived just between London and Birmingham, and we had about 3-4 inch of snow on monday).
Today, the road was so slipery because of the sleet last night.
On BBC website there are dozen of picture of snowman sent by people across UK. I thought this one is the best. The weather forecast indicate there is more snowfall coming. I just hope I had a courage to go outside and took some pictures.
